Hey, what’s up? I’m Joseph.
I’m a 1st generation Mexican-American based in Rosemead, California.

When I was a kid, I liked to use my parents’ cameras when I got the chance. At first, it just felt cool being able to capture moments that I wanted to remember, but over time, my eye got better, and my photos became more about trying to capture any kind of moment in an interesting way. At least in a way that was interesting to me.

That hobby stayed with me into college, where I was introduced to tools like Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and other software. I initially saw these tools as opportunities to improve my creative skills and elevate my photography before deciding to pursue my degree in design. This got me a job as a lead designer at a small business in the packaging industry, where I became familiar with the process of digital print production while also helping grow the art department.

In 2020, I was diagnosed with cancer at the same time that the world came to a stop. I’m lucky to have been surrounded by a great support system that was there with me through every step of the process.

Following that, I went back to school to get my associate’s degree and several certifications from Rio Hondo College. Following that, I completed an intensive UX/UI Design Immersion course that earned me a certification.

These days, I’m back to pursuing my educational path while looking for a role where I can combine the array of design-related skills I’ve acquired to impact and work with a team.
